About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning and executing projects to manage fleets of blockchain servers. This position offers unique opportunities to build tooling in an industry where none exists. You will be responsible for developing production systems that can handle cutting-edge blockchain software, ensuring security, monitoring, maintainability, and stability.
Responsibilities
As a member of our team, your main responsibilities will include:
- Identifying areas where automation can greatly enhance our infrastructure management capabilities.
- Identifying potential risks and proposing effective solutions to mitigate them.
- Overseeing and monitoring cloud and physical servers across multiple global hosting services and data centers.
- Automating the build, installation, and management processes of blockchain software.
- Administering and securing Linux servers, implementing intrusion detection measures and vulnerability scanning.
- Debugging complex distributed blockchains to ensure smooth operations.
- Identifying and supporting tasks and processes that encounter obstacles.
- Demonstrating technical expertise and mentoring team members in multiple domains.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- In-depth experience using Ansible or similar tools in environments with hundreds of servers.
- Proven skills in designing complex inventories, variable structures, and playbooks.
- Proficiency in creating custom Ansible roles with advanced features like Jinja2 templating and complex logic flows.
- Extensive experience supporting Linux servers in large, secure, and highly available environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve server, network, and application issues.
- Familiarity with common system administration scripting languages such as bash and Python.
- Expertise in creating well-organized modules with Terraform and building image pipelines with Packer.
- Deep understanding of networking and security best practices.
- Experience working in high-security environments.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be beneficial:
- Experience in Ansible role testing with Molecule or similar tools, and Ansible module development.
- Knowledge of Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake decentralized consensus mechanisms.
- Experience working with Kubernetes for application deployment.
- Proficiency in creating CI/CD pipelines from scratch using tools like GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with secure storage tools like HashiCorp Vault.
