As a Software Developer specializing in fraud prevention, your role will be pivotal in safeguarding Shakepay and our customers’ assets and transactions from fraudulent activities. Collaborating closely with various teams including Security, IT, Fraud, AML, KYC, Compliance, and Product, you will play a crucial part in detecting, analyzing, and mitigating digital fraud risks. Fraud prevention and mitigation
Working alongside the Security and Fraud, AML & KYC teams, you will design and implement prevention, detection, and automation strategies and tools to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Shakepay and our customers’ digital assets. Some potential projects may include:
- Automating the reporting and mitigation of fraudulent activity
- Developing high-fidelity alerts using existing and custom tools to identify suspicious activity on customer accounts and Shakepay systems
- Streamlining compliance and regulatory processes through automation
Continuously monitor customer and system actions, behaviors, and patterns to swiftly identify, investigate, and automate the mitigation of suspicious activities.
As our resident expert, you will stay up to date with the latest trends, emerging threats, and attack techniques related to fraudulent actions upon digital assets.
Reporting and Documentation
Prepare comprehensive reports and document your processes, tooling, and investigations.
Share your expertise in fraud prevention and mitigation by collaborating closely with team members from various departments, ensuring that everyone at Shakepay has a basic understanding of how to contribute to these responsibilities.
- Prior experience in engineering and building fraud prevention, trust & safety, or abuse prevention solutions in a financial setting.
- Strong understanding of security and fraud trends, tactics, and emerging threats in cryptocurrency operations.
- Familiarity with querying languages like SQL for data investigation, manipulation, and monitoring.
- Ability to identify operational blockers and automate solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to work cross-functionally.
- Knowledge of the technology behind Bitcoin.
- Familiarity with fraud, KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements in the Canadian crypto industry.
- Capable of building tools and automating processes, as well as investigating complex financial transactions.
- Previous experience working in a startup environment.
