After three years on the run, Oli finds herself back in a Resistance camp, chained to a chair as the resident monster. The villains from her past have returned, ready to sink their teeth into her once again. But this time, she’s not alone. With her Bonds fighting to reach her and unexpected new friendships forming, Oli starts to believe that maybe she won’t become the weapon they want her to be. Maybe she’ll become a monster of her own creation. Loyalties are questioned, and Bonds are tested, turning everything Oli thought she knew upside down. Will her Bond ties prove stronger than blood?
Blood Bonds: A Riveting Reverse Harem Adventure
After devouring the cliffhanger ending of Savage Bonds, my curiosity propelled me straight into reading Blood Bonds, the next installment in J. Bree’s captivating Bonds That Tie series. I couldn’t wait to discover what fate had in store for poor Oli and how her Bonds would react to her association with the Resistance. If I had read these books when they were first released, the waiting game between installments would have been agonizing.
A Compelling Storyline and My Thoughts
First and foremost, I must confess that I’m now firmly on Team North. Previously, I had not been very fond of him, but after reading Savage Bonds, he won me over with his realization of the truth behind Oli’s five-year disappearance. He made amends for his previous behavior, especially during his tender moments with her. There’s something about a man in a suit that catches my attention, and North had me hook, line, and sinker. Yet, Gryphon remains the ultimate sweetheart among all five Bonds. The way he talks and cares for Oli, both inside and outside the bedroom, is truly endearing. How can anyone resist him? The MFM scene involving Gryphon, Oli, and North was scintillating, and the episode where Gryphon carries Oli’s scent, triggering the other Bonds and causing others to take notice, was equally sizzling. J. Bree definitely turned up the heat in this book, and I eagerly anticipate more spicy moments in the upcoming novels, even though I know she will undoubtedly rip my heart to shreds with the direction the story is taking. To avoid spoilers, I have intentionally steered clear of reviews and TikTok videos on the later books (Books 4 and 5), as I want to be surprised.
My affection for Gabe, the shifter among the Bonds, remains steadfast. He’s not someone you want to mess with, especially when it concerns Oli. I hope he gets more opportunities to deepen his connection with her in the forthcoming books.
Now, regarding Nox, he still occupies a spot on my “poopy list.” I can’t stand how he treats Oli, despite even his shadow creature(s) adoring her. One of them has been by her side since the previous book, displaying a fiercely protective instinct. Oli returns the favor by asking Brutus to safeguard Gryphon’s sister when she is captured by the Resistance. While I acknowledge that Nox is likely harboring hidden trauma, it will take more for me to warm up to him. I have a habit of falling for characters who have endured significant hardships, but Nox has yet to win me over. I apologize to anyone attached to him but, as of now, he simply doesn’t do it for me. Nevertheless, I appreciated that J. Bree provided the perspectives of Nox and the other Bonds in this book, not just Oli. This allowed me to delve deeper into their thoughts, particularly when they discovered the extent of Oli’s past suffering at the hands of the Resistance’s leader.
This installment is filled with action, particularly as the Resistance once again captures Oli. We finally uncover the identity of the story’s villain and witness revelations that shed light on various matters. Brace yourself for the shocker from the previous book, as it is further explored here, causing a ripple effect of distrust among all of Oli’s Bonds. Prepare to be left on the edge of your seat, thanks to the nail-biting cliffhanger. J. Bree, you certainly know how to pierce my heart. I’m clueless as to how Oli will handle the news, but I anticipate it will shatter her.
The villain responsible for Oli’s past trauma and his subsequent attempts to harm her again deserves a reckoning. I have never detested a fictional character as much as I despise him. Grrrr! No one inflicts harm on Oli without facing consequences. Although Oli can hold her own, I eagerly await the moment when her Bonds confront this despicable individual. It may sound cruel, but he deserves to suffer in unimaginable ways.
Overall, Blood Bonds, the third book in The Bonds That Tie series, deserves a perfect five-star rating. In fact, I wish I could award it even more stars. Come on, Amazon, Goodreads, and Bookbub, expand your review rating system! J. Bree has undeniably earned it with the rich world she has created in this book.
Oli, you are one lucky female lead to have the undivided attention of your Bonds. Allow me to share a few reasons why I adore Gryphon:
- “Stop frowning, Bonded. It makes me want to murder something for you.”
- “A man can’t help it when he’s made his Bonded come eight times on his tongue. I’m thinking about doing it again.”
- “You’re assuming that I’m going to shower, but I’m going to smell like you all fucking day, Bonded. I’m going to sit through that stupid fucking meeting with your scent all over my face, and it’ll be the only thing that gets me through the day.”
If those quotes don’t make you fall in love with Gryphon, I don’t know what will. 😊 Now, onto the fourth book, where I’m excited to be swept off my feet by these men once again and develop an even greater girl crush on Oli. She’s an incredible badass, and I absolutely adore her.
