Imagine finding yourself in an unexpected situation during your last year of college. That’s exactly what happened to me. The school offered me a choice: either live in a fraternity house or endure a long commute from home. Reluctantly, I decided to embrace the unknown and accepted their offer.
As I walked through the campus, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy when I saw other students excitedly moving into their dorms. Meanwhile, I trudged forward, approaching what I considered my prison for the next semester. I took a deep breath, unlocked the door, and stepped inside.
The living room was filled with the sound of seven guys chatting about the upcoming party. I mustered up the courage to introduce myself, waving and saying, “Hi, I’m Charlotte.” However, one of them dismissed me, assuming I was there for the party. I refused to be objectified, asserting that I was their new roommate. The room fell silent as they realized the truth.
A black-haired guy, the confident alpha male of the group, approached me and introduced himself as Darren Reed. He mentioned that I should already know who they all were. Truth be told, while I had seen them around campus, I was focused on my culinary arts major, not football. I politely admitted that I didn’t know them, which surprised everyone.
Darren took charge, offering to show me to my room. I followed him, leaving my suitcase behind in the living room. As we climbed the stairs, I couldn’t help but ask Darren about Chase, who seemed to be the leader. Darren grunted in response, not divulging much information.
We reached my room, and Darren explained that I would be sharing a bathroom with Chase. Concerned about my privacy, I asked for another room, but it was too late. Darren warned me to respect Chase’s rules and to knock before using the shared bathroom. He assured me that following these rules would ensure a harmonious living arrangement.
After Darren left, I took the time to unpack and explore the house. The kitchen, in particular, caught my eye. It was equipped with top-of-the-line appliances, including an impressive stove. The house itself was a mess, but I saw this as an opportunity to show my gratitude to the guys by cooking and cleaning.
As I was settling in, my best friend Raven called. She couldn’t believe I was staying in a fraternity house, surrounded by the hottest players on campus. Raven jokingly suggested that I could end up with Chase, but we both knew that he was off-limits. We had a pact to never discuss our middle school crushes.
Determined to make the best of my situation, I shared my plan with Raven: cooking and cleaning for the guys as a gesture of gratitude. She laughed and called me the new modern-day Snow White, living with seven guys. We said our goodbyes, and I set out to turn this unexpected semester into a memorable experience.
Living with the seven frat brothers might not have been what I had envisioned for my final year of college, but I was ready to make the most of it. Little did I know that this semester would prove to be full of surprises, challenges, and unexpected friendships. Stay tuned to hear about the adventures that awaited me in the house of seven frat brothers.
