The most exciting news for Disney cruises, is the addition of a new ship, the Disney Wish. Rapunzel is featured on the ship’s stern with paintbrush in hand, using her hair to suspend herself as she decorates the stern of the ship with the help of her feisty sidekick, Pascal. The Disney Wish will offer three and four night trips from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Castaway Cay. A new destination for Disney will be on the Island of Eleuthera at a place called Lighthouse Point. Cruises will begin in January of 2022. The Disney Wish joins Disney’s fleet in Port Canaveral, with two sister ships set to debut in 2022 and 2023. Two of those three ships will sail out of Port Canaveral and the cruise line will expand its annual sailings there, growing from 150 calls to at least 180 in 2023 and up to 216 calls in 2024. Disney cruise 2024 itineraries to the Caribbean, Mexico and the Bahamas are available.These cruises will be available at sailings originating from Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and California
Disney cruises 2023 will continue to offer some exciting theme cruises for Marvel & Star Wars. Select sailings will have Marvel characters, themed activities and an exclusive deck party. The Star Wars themed cruises will offer meet & greets, unique food & beverage, Star Wars merchandise and at sea screenings of Star Wars films. Disney always offers Holiday cruises with special features including the 4th of July, Halloween on the high seas, Thanksgiving and Very Merrytime Chrismas sailings. All come with their own unique events to celebrate the holiday.
Disney Cruise Line Ship Schedules
In 2022, the Disney Wonder moved around during the year to various home ports. Cruises began in Galveston, then San Juan, New Orleans, San Diego, Hawaii in April and early May, than from mid-May to Sept 7th the ship will cruise Alaska out of Vancouver. The ship then returns to San Diego and ends the year in Galveston. For 2024 the Disney Wonder will be on the move again. March 2024 brings sailings from San Diego. Enjoy three to seven night trips to Mexico with stops such as Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Ensenada and Catalina Island.
Disney Dream sails year round out of Port Canaveral to Nassau, the Caribbean and Castaway Cay. The Disney Dream Cruise Ship first sailed in January 2011 and was Disney’s first new ship in 12 years. Just to compare, this ship is 40% larger than the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. It has two more decks and 1,250 stateroom each with a virtual porthole showing waves and Disney characters. In 2023 this is what they will be offering. From January to the early part of May the Disney Dream will sail from Miami, Offering 4- to 5-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean itineraries, then across the Atlantic to Barcelona. From the middle part of May to the middle part of July the Disney Dream will be headed to Europe. Offering sailings from Barcelona/Civitavecchia with 7- to 11-night Mediterranean cruises, then eventually repositions to Southampton England. Then from Late July to the middle of September the Disney Dream offers Southampton/Copenhagen cruises. Choose from 4- to 11-night Northern European cruises, then back across the Atlantic to New York. Wow is the Disney Dream on the move… from late September to early November you can sail from New York. Choose from 4- to 6-night Bermuda and Canadian cruises. By mid November the Disney Dream then repositions to Fort Lauderdale via San Juan, Puerto Rico, with one Southern Caribbean cruise in between from San Juan. Last but not least, middle of November through all of December it will be based out of Fort Lauderdale Florida with 4- and 5-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean options. Beginning in 2024 the Disney Dream will offer three and four night sailings to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral as well as five night sailings to the Western Caribbean.
The Disney Fantasy (almost twin ship to the Disney Dream) also cruises out of Port Canaveral all year, with mainly 7 day Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises, with a couple of select 5, 6 & 9 night itineraries. Sailings to the Eastern Caribbean includes stops in Tortola and St Thomas; Western Caribbean sailings will stop in Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.
The Disney Magic from January to the Middle of February will sail from Galveston. Offering 4- to 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary. From Late February to the Middle of April it will sail from New Orleans offering 4- to 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary. From the beginning of May it will sail from San Juan offering 7- and 8-night Southern Caribbean Cruises. Late May through September sails from Miami offering 3- to 7-night Caribbean and Bahamian Cruises, with three Double Dips, then through the Panama Canal to San Diego. Late September to Early December sails from San Diego. Offering 2- to 7-night Mexico cruises, then back through the Panama Canal to Galveston. In February 2024 the Disney Magic offers four to seven night cruises from Galveston till April. In February 2024 the Magic will offer four to seven night cruises from New Orleans.
Disney Cruises 2023 are already for sale. At the beginning of the year, all 3 ships will sail from Florida. The Disney Magic will sail out of Miami for 3, 4 and 5 night Bahamas and Western Caribbean cruises. They Disney Fantasy & Disney Dream will both sail out of Port Canaveral. The Dream will offer 3 and four night cruises, while the Fantasy will be seven night cruises to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
Disney Cruise Line Home Port News
Back by popular demand, Disney Cruise Line will place the Disney Wonder in New Orleans for a limited time, with sailings to the Bahamas & Caribbean, including their beautiful private island, Castaway Cay. Guests can venture into the Crescent City to savor the distinct flavors of famous New Orleans cuisine, visit family-friendly museums and parks, and revel in the sweet melodies of world-renowned jazz music. The Disney Wonder will also return to the home ports of Galveston & San Diego, with a series of 4 and 6 night cruises to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. The Wonder will then move to the West Coast for a variety of Baja Mexico Riviera cruise.
Disney Castaway Cay
Disney Castaway Cay is a private island in the Bahamas which is the exclusive port for Disney Cruise Line ships. Buffet BBQ is included on your day at the island and there are several locations around the island to get food. The beach is free and there are plenty of chairs out. There are also plenty of free family games available such as ping pong, chess, basketball and shuffleboard. The water slides at Pelican’s Plunge are included in the price. There are option paid activies you can do which include private cabanas, parasailing, rental snorkel gear or bicycles and a stingray adventure.
Disney Cruise Line has announced one (DVC) Disney Vacation Club members cruise for 2023. A 4-night Bahamian cruise on September 4, 2023 on the Disney Wish.
