Dr. Lambert was born on January 8, 1937, on a farm in Lawrence County, Mississippi. His parents, Troy E. Lambert and Susannah Tullis Lambert, instilled in him the values of hard work, perseverance, and service from an early age. Growing up in Lawrence and Walthall counties, he shared his childhood with his brothers Joseph Jones, Jake Edward, and Troy Terrell.
The Pursuit of Knowledge
Education became the cornerstone of Dr. Lambert’s journey. He graduated from Tylertown High School in 1956, setting the stage for a path filled with intellectual growth and spiritual development. He earned an Associate of Arts in Bible at Freed-Hardeman College and later pursued a special “Advanced Bible Program” at the same institution.
Dr. Lambert’s thirst for knowledge led him to Belhaven College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Greek and Bible. He furthered his studies, earning a Master of Arts Degree in English from Mississippi College, with a focus on grammar. His thesis project on verb auxiliaries for translating Greek verbs into precise and comprehensive English verb phrases showcased his expertise in the field.
Driven by a passion for teaching, Dr. Lambert received a Doctor of Education Degree in College Teaching from the University of Arkansas. His dissertation project, an adaptive-mastery system of teaching biblical language and interpretation, highlighted his dedication to providing innovative and effective education.
A Life of Service
Dr. Lambert’s commitment to his faith and ministry is profound. Having preached in churches of Christ since 1952, his influence has spanned several states, including Tennessee, Mississippi, Indiana, and Arkansas. For over 47 years, he has served as a volunteer and church-sponsored chaplain and Bible teacher in retirement and nursing homes, bringing comfort and spiritual guidance to those in need.
His impact extends beyond the pulpit. Dr. Lambert has edited two monthly religious papers, published articles on ministry and biblical teachings, and hosted daily radio programs. His weekly television program in Jackson, Mississippi, provided a platform for preaching, interviewing guests, and answering questions from viewers.
A Distinguished Educator
Dr. Lambert’s passion for education led him to become a Christian educator of great distinction. He served as a professor at Magnolia Bible College, where he taught New Testament, Greek, and Ministry. At Harding University, he dedicated 25 years to teaching English, Greek, Preaching, New Testament Text, and Biblical Interpretation. As the Director of the Harding University School of Biblical Studies, his guidance and vision propelled the institute to new heights.
Family and Legacy
Dr. Lambert’s personal life is a testament to the love and devotion that he embodies. He has been happily married to Dr. Helen Carter Lambert, a former Associate Dean and Professor Emeritus at Harding University College of Nursing, since 1957.
