If you occasionally fly in the Parisian or Strasbourg regions, then this article is for you. If you’re a Clearance subscriber, you can now submit your drone flight authorization requests to U-Space Keeper airports without having to switch platforms. Allow us to explain below.
Areas Covered
Clearance and Innov’ATM, the company behind the U-Space Keeper platform, have established a connection between their respective platforms. This means that you won’t have to use both platforms simultaneously. Essentially, since February 2023, your Clearance subscription allows you to easily submit authorization requests with just one click, without leaving your Clearance interface. This applies to the entire Parisian region, as well as the Strasbourg and Tours regions.
Authorization Request Procedure
In these airports, the authorization request process is very similar to that of a direct Clearance partner airport. The connection to the U-Space Keeper platform is almost seamless for you. Once you’ve created your mission within one of these zones, the constraint description will provide you with the necessary procedure to follow. You’ll find the complete instructions given by the airport controllers displayed. If there is a minimum notice period, the deadline for submitting your request will be calculated and shown.
To proceed, simply click the “Submit your request” button, which will bring up a form asking you to confirm or provide additional information regarding your mission.
After reviewing the information, a click on the confirmation button will send your request for approval. It will then be submitted on the U-Space Keeper platform and made available to the responsible parties for review. At that moment, you’ll receive a notification via email, and you’ll continue to receive updates at every stage of the process. As with Clearance’s partner airports, all information can be viewed within the interface, and if necessary, you can use the discussion thread to communicate with air traffic controllers or respond to any clarification requests.
Special Case of the Roissy / Le Bourget Area: Protocol Signature
The administrators of the Roissy / Le Bourget area (north of the Parisian region) require the signing of a protocol agreement. First, submit your request as previously indicated. After the initial processing of your request, you’ll receive a message with a document to download and sign. Then, upload the signed document to the message thread of the approval request. Finally, click the “Request request revalidation” button.
Special Cases of the Strasbourg / Orly / Issy les Moulineaux (nighttime) / Roissy le Bourget Areas: Activations
In certain areas, the authorization process includes an additional step. Once you’ve submitted your request for a specific period, and it has been accepted, you’ll need to confirm the exact date of your flight, usually the day before. This confirmation is referred to as activation, and you’ll find an explanation of the activation requirement within the interface. You can also submit the activation directly on your Clearance interface, within the approval request block.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is a specific Alpha Tango delegation required?
A: No, this process is not related to Alpha Tango. However, you are still responsible for other usual procedures, such as Alpha Tango notifications for flights in urban areas.
Q: Is there any fee involved?
A: If you have a Clearance subscription, you can submit as many approval requests as necessary for these airports without any additional cost. Without a Clearance subscription, you’ll need to submit your requests via the U-Space Keeper platform, which is also free of charge.
Q: Why don’t I see these green zones on my map?
A: To be able to submit approval requests to U-Space Keeper-managed airports from your Clearance interface, you need to have an active subscription (trial period or paid subscription). Without this, the corresponding zones won’t appear in green. Instead, you’ll have to submit your authorization requests directly on the U-Space Keeper platform.
Q: Who should I contact if something isn’t working?
A: If you encounter any technical issues, don’t hesitate to contact our support team through the usual channels: the integrated chat on the platform, email support@clearance.aero, or phone 09 72 64 74 87. However, please note that Clearance is not responsible for the response to your approval request. If it hasn’t been processed yet or has been denied, the point of contact is the airspace managers. You can reach out to them via the discussion thread of the approval request or use the contact details provided by the U-Space Keeper platform, which will be displayed in the flight constraint details.
